This year, with your generosity and support, Theatre Unleashed began a trend of charitable giving, making contributions to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Alliance for Children's Rights and Toys For Tots. Our most successful campaign of 2011 was, by far, the Toys For Tots drive held during It's a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play, where we managed to collect multiple large bags chock-full of new, unwrapped toys to donate! Director of Children's Programming Jenn Scuderi coordinated the drop off with the USMC this past weekend, so if you donated, your contribution may very well already be under the tree of a lucky little boy or girl. Check out the haul!
We aim to continue this trend in our 2012 season and beyond, with a focus on making a larger impact. Going forward, each Main Stage production will benefit a local L.A. charity. We will no longer be contributing $1 per ticket sold to a cause. We feel that collecting goods, whether they be clothes, pet supplies, teddy bears or other much-needed items, can have a much more signifcant and immediate impact for a cause and our community.
Next season, on each Main Stage show page, we will have information on what charity is benefitting from a production and what you can contribute. If you bring a donation to the box office, then you can Name Your Ticket Price to see the show that night*.
We will be announcing our selected charities for 2012 with our season in January, so stay tuned for more information! Thank you again! We're looking forward to our next season, and we hope you are, too! Happy Holidays!
*We do ask that you contribute at least one item per seat. So, if you're bringing your family of three and want to name your own price for each seat and we're doing a teddy bear drive, please bring at least three bears to donate. |
