Congratulations to those cast in The Spidey Project! Thank you to everyone who auditioned. We could have cast this show with four casts and they all would have been amazing.

Hey folks! Well, the cat's out of the bag. We're kicking off our 2012 season with the smash Off-Broadway hit The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility. We're excited beyond words to be presenting this incredibly fun, original show. If you haven't heard of The Spidey Project before, take a look at their website to find out how it all started. It's a fascinating story, and we're proud to be a part of it's next chapter. Since this is the West Coast Premiere, we want to welcome Spidey to L.A. right, and that's where we need your help.

#lathtr folks! It's been far too long since we last had a get-together, and something needs to be done about it! Theatre Unleashed would like to invite you to join us at our rehearsal space (the Latvian Community Center at 1955 Riverside Drive) on January 22nd, 2012 for the first #lathtr Tweetup of the year! It's been a while since we last got together and talked about what's going on 'round here. Come bring your business cards and a snack to share. There is a bar at the community center, so hard and soft beverages will be available.

This is a guest blog from LA Theatre blogger Cindy Marie Jenkins and our friends at The Global Theatre Project about their upcoming event, Especially Now: Creating the World Together. We hope you'll take the time to check it out!Can theatre truly move us towards a better world?
Part of the reason why I continue working in the arts is the incredibly rich learning experience every project allows me. After a particularly intense rehearsal with the ensemble of The Global Theatre Project's bilingual performance, Director Bari Hochwald asked some questions:

A year ago, I volunteered to adapt the classic holiday film It’s a Wonderful Life for a staged radio play to be put on by Theatre Unleashed.
Not one to procrastinate (that’s not really true), I found myself having trouble getting started on the adaptation. Every time I would set aside a couple hours to work on it, I felt incredibly nervous and I have to say…a little unworthy. That was an unusual feeling for me. I am a very confident writer, having made a living at it now for over 13 years. I have written award-winning articles, short original scripts and even books for some well-known personalities both locally and nationally.
But this script worried me, and I quickly discovered why.

Nine years ago as a teacher in Minneapolis I met a kindergartner named Angel. As a five year old Angel faced more worry and stress than any child his age should ever handle and yet he did it with the maturity that many of us don't find until we are adults. As we walked out to the buses one day I noticed he didn't have any mittens... |
