At its core, the mission of Theatre Unleashed is simple: to work together as one, passionately and professionally, in creating truly remarkable theatre. Theatre Unleashed celebrates the creative collaboration process by encouraging its members to explore fresh, thought-provoking approaches to both original works and established shows. Theatre Unleashed will experiment with various forms of multimedia to heighten the entertainment experience while staying true to the playwright’s words, characters and thematic intent. Story-telling is the driving force behind any Theatre Unleashed production as the company pledges to push its artistic boundaries, striving to reach that emotional resonance with our audience that only live theatre can create.

Theatre Unleashed is not going to be a “one-show-a-year” company. We will have a full season, set before the beginning of each year, complete with original and established shows, as well as opportunities for other artistic endeavors.

Theatre Unleashed, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation and takes a professional approach to all business affairs. Through bylaws and policies, the company has established processes for everything from submitting scripts to putting up shows. Theatre Unleashed pledges consistency in its approach to theatre.

Theatre Unleashed is a collaborative venture. Members are encouraged to participate and be involved with the company. There will be plenty of opportunities for all Theatre Unleashed members to be involved, whether on or off stage. The company also plans an in-house writing group devoted to writing shows specifically for company members. Theatre Unleashed is committed to getting actors, writers, directors, producers, designers and so on working together to create a collective vision.

Theatre Unleashed also encourages collaboration with the Los Angeles artistic community as a whole and will explore potential partnerships, residencies and so on.

Theatre Unleashed is a dues-paying company. The company charges its members $40 per month. All funding is put into the theatre company; no members receive any personal financial profit from Theatre Unleashed ventures.

Theatre Unleashed is open and honest with its members about any and all business and creative affairs that will affect the general membership and the company as a whole. This includes informing the company on financial transactions, artistic choices, company meeting minutes, etc.

As part of its goal to provide a plethora of opportunities for its members, Theatre Unleashed will explore educational venues as well; including writer workshops, director workshops, design internships, classes, seminars and even acting support groups.

Further, Theatre Unleashed is dedicated to learning. The Board of Directors believes that remarkable theatre and a successful business only happens when its members are open to growth. The company is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to building itself into one of L.A.’s top theatre groups by producing the best quality and most invigorating theatre.
